Tania's Talk : : March 2007

My apologies for having missed both of the meetings in February - it’s a sad state to be in when your work life interferes with your social life. Unfortunately, I’ve come to the conclusion that the hours I work currently don’t allow me to be as committed to the MGOC as I would like to be, and therefore I’ve reluctantly decided I should step down from the role of Secretary and open it up to anyone who’s interested in taking it on. If you would be interested, then please .

It was good to see such a high turn out at the New Forest Run meeting, so thanks to everyone who came along for that in such foul weather - there were some good ideas that came out of the meeting. Malcolm Rumsey, Andy Pendall and I had a very good meeting with Nigel Philpott at Exbury Gardens, and we are now firmly in their events diary for Sunday 3rd June. In addition, Sammy Miller has confirmed that he would like to come along to the start, and flag away the first cars. I also understand that entries are pouring in to Lucie, so if you would like to enter, please make sure you get your form in as soon as possible.

Round 6 of the quiz league took place at the St Peters Finger on Thursday 1st March, with questions set by Rebecca Swinden. Some very entertaining rounds saw us making abstract shapes out of triangles, squares and parallelograms, as well as identifying products from the songs used to advertise them! Our very own “Here We Go Again” were triumphant on the night, beating MASC’s Swinners Winners into 2nd place by a whopping 3 points, which leaves them 28 points short of Swinners overall with 2 rounds still to play. Next round takes place at the Empress of Blandings, at 7.30 / 8.00, on Thursday 5th April – questions will be set by Nigel Hedges of 1020.

Speaking of 1020 and Mr Hedges, the Bournemouth club are organising a March Run, taking place on Sunday 25th March, starting at Ringwood Town & Country Museum, and finishing at the Empress of Blandings for lunch. They have extended the invitation to ourselves, so if you would like more information, then either let me know, or give Nigel a call on 01202 555922.
