: : June 2007
One minute you’re waiting for the winter months to pass so you can get those beloved MGs out, the next thing you know, it’s June. This will be my second newsletter as secretary - doesn't time fly? As Martin is heavily involved in the final organising stages of the 2007 New Forest Run and, as you know, is editor of the club’s newsletter, he has asked me to bring forward the deadline for this article, leaving himself enough time hopefully to get everything done. It means that the newsletter goes to print before the Run but not released until the monthly meeting on June 6th - after the Run - very confusing! However you can rest assured there will be a full report in the July newsletter. (Oh! really... now let me guess who’ll do that? Ed)
Those going to France this year will be counting down the days. Thursday June 21st sees eight cars from 1009 leave for Languidic, Southern Brittany, for a week of rest and relaxation (and the odd glass of wine). It is an area offering so much that the club is going back to the same gite for the second year running. I know those going for the first time will not be disappointed. The accommodation is excellent with all rooms en suite and if the weather matches previous years there will be plenty of use made of the outside BBQ and swimming pool. Bon Vacances!
The French trip unfortunately coincides with Silverstone - a pity because I had plans to go there myself this year. It’s the 57th event and I haven’t been to one yet. The MGC is celebrating its 40th anniversary there, so there are likely to be Cs on track as well as plenty of other MG action. If anyone is interested the meeting opens 10:00 Friday 22nd June and finishes 18:00 Sunday 24th June with camping available. I have full details if you need them.
May has been rather disappointing in weather and activities.
Some dates for July.
Sunday 15th July: Epsom MGOC’s “Surrey Run”
Sunday 15th July: Poole Bay Classics' event at Breamore House
Sunday 22nd July: Classics at Sherborne Castle.
Finally by popular request:
Scientists have developed a Viagra in powder form to put in tea. As well as improving your sex life it also stops your biscuits getting soggy! (Thank you Richard).
