: : January 2007
It’s hard to believe another year has passed, and 2007 is now upon us. 2006 was a good year for the club, with a growth in membership, a stronger presence on the internet, and a variety of events and visits during the year - a successful (and sunny!) New Forest Run, with £2000 raised for our 2 charities, followed by strong presence at events such as the Hampshire Pageant of Motoring, Wessex Classic Car Show and Athelhampton.
2007 looks like being another busy year, with plenty going on throughout the spring and summer months. It all starts on 7th January, with a visit to the Master James Cook, organised by Robin Plumley. We have a number of passes, but there are a few spares available if you haven’t already booked your place.
My thanks to everyone who came along to the Christmas party - I hope everyone had a good evening? Those of you who were there will know that the presentation to the person you voted club member of the year did not take place at the party this year, because the winner was not able to come to the party. So the shield will be presented instead at the January meeting - I will not mention the person’s name here, as we would like it to be a surprise for them!
The AGM takes place on Wednesday 17th January, upstairs at the Empress of Blandings. Start time is 8pm, and hopefully we will have a good turn out for this. I’ve asked Martin to include a brief agenda in this newsletter, but there is still time to add to the agenda if there is anything you particularly want to raise.
Finally, round 4 of the Inter-Club Quiz League takes place at the Old Beams, Ibsley, on Thursday 4th January. Questions are being set by Sarum Moonrakers member Annabel Harrison. Our own ladies team, Here We Go Again, are currently in second place overall in the league, and they and a couple of other teams still have a chance to close on the current leaders, Swinners Winners from Dorset MASC.
Please note - round 5 will take place on Thursday 1st February at the Empress of Blandings (this is before our next monthly meeting).
