: : February 2007 As you may have seen in Enjoying MG, the 2007 New Forest Run is now open for entries. Lucie is very kindly taking over the entry organisation from Gordon this year, and either Lucie or I will have entry forms available at monthly meetings over the next couple of months. We have had to make a last minute alteration to our start venue, as the Scout Hut at Copythorne has been booked for a wedding on the Saturday night, and as a result, there will still be a large marquee or two on the field in the morning. Sammy Millers have kindly agreed to be our new start venue for this year. It will mean we won’t be able to provide the bacon sandwiches this year, which is a shame, but probably some relief to those who had the job of cooking them last year. Sammy Millers does however offer the chance for participants to have a look round the museum before they set off, and also has a café and toilet facilities. Thanks to Joy for arranging this venue at such short notice. There will be a meeting for all volunteers or anyone interested in getting involved in this year’s run - the meeting will take place at the Empress of Blandings, upstairs, next Tuesday 13th Feb from 8pm onwards. We need to find a suitable venue and ideas for entertainment for the Saturday evening, as well as starting to get together plans for marshalls, trade stands and advertisers for the route book. A few things coming up before the March meeting - firstly, round 6 of the quiz league, which takes place at the St Peters Finger, Lytchet Minster, on Thursday 1st March, with questions being set by the Dorset Midget & Sprite club. Anyone needing directions, please let me know. Also before our next meeting is the first big gathering of the year, the Winchester MGOC’s Cobweb Spin, which takes place on Sunday 4th March at IBM Hursley. If you would like to travel in convoy, please let me know, and we will advise meeting place & time. < Return to previous page
