As we come to the end of another year December also marks the end of my first seven months as club secretary. Despite the poor weather over the early part of the year all our events were really well attended, monthly meetings regularly attracted 30 plus members, and of course now we have the added benefit of an award winning web site. I have enjoyed my short time as secretary immensely so far and look forward, with your company and help, to another new year filled with MG activity.
This year's final get together will be the Christmas Dinner and Disco at the Walhampton Arms. Linda has been painstakingly ringing everyone to make sure all your orders are correct so that there will be no last minute hiccups. All moneys still outstanding should be paid to Linda a.s.a.p. and don’t forget every couple needs to bring a Secret Santa gift. I will also need you to return your nominations for the Club Person of the Year Award by the December monthly meeting. The presentation of this award will be made at the end of the Dinner. There is also our annual invitation to join Bournemouth & Poole for their Christmas Lunch at the Walter Tyrell on Sunday 9th December from midday and food can be ordered on the day.
For those members determined to shed those festive girths and lose their hangovers there will be short walk from the Happy Cheese across to the Beaulieu Road Station pub on New Years Day January 1st 2008. The walk will start around 11.00am, there will be sausage rolls and mince pies at the finish, and transport back to your cars... unless you prefer to walk back.
Our AGM will replace the January mid-monthly meeting and will be held at the Empress of Blandings on Wednesday 16th January starting at 8.00pm. Linda and I are both happy to continue in our present roles but alas Martin will be standing down as Editor... any takers? If anyone is interested in standing for these positions please let me know before the AGM. We will also need to discuss this year’s New Forest Run and the charities that we intend to support.
All that remains is for Kris and I to wish all 1009 members and MG owners everywhere a safe and happy Christmas.
P.S. Don’t spend £2.00 dry cleaning your shirt for the Christmas Dinner. Donate it to the Salvation Army instead. They’ll clean it, put it on a hanger... next morning you can buy it back for 50p.
