: : November 2006
We’ve already started putting together the outline for next year’s New Forest Run. Thanks to those who braved the elements to come along to the first planning meeting - however, there are still a number of things to be decided, like which charity to support, any ideas for middle or finish venue, and ideas for Saturday night. With regard to the charity, if there is a particular cause that you would like to support, please let me know by December’s mid-monthly meeting, so that we can print all suggestions in January’s newsletter and vote at the AGM in mid-January. Any agenda items for January’s AGM should also be submitted by mid-December, so that we can publish the agenda in advance. Please let me know if there is anything you would like to have raised at the meeting, which will take place at the Empress of Blandings on Wednesday 17th January.
The New Forest Run may be approaching fast, but Christmas is getting even closer, and we don’t have much time to get ourselves organised for the party on 13th December. I have menus, and those of you who receive your newsletter by post should receive one too. Please note, I need your deposit of £5 per person, and your menu choices by November 15th - I appreciate this is short notice, but the Walhampton Arms needs advance orders and deposits.
Anyone who fancies a drive out into the New Forest in December is invited to join Bournemouth & Poole MGOC for their Christmas lunch at the Sir Walter Tyrrell. Over 50 MGs usually attend, both from 1020 and from other region 10 clubs. Presents will be collected for the Bournemouth Women’s Refuge, as well as the ever present raffle where you have to be very unlucky to go home empty handed! Be there for mid-day if you’re interested.
Well done to our 3 teams who took part in the first round of the winter quiz league - “Here We Go Again” (Joy, Linda and Kris) and the “We Dunnoes” (Martin, Malcolm and Roy). I think most of them are still speaking to me, but seeing the looks on their faces after some of the questions, I’m not so sure… Swinners’ (or should that be SwinnerLESS) Winners were relegated into second place by the 1020 team “Dorset Dumbos”, who somehow managed to win even with the dubious assistance of Nigel Hedges!
