Martin's Mumblings : : December 2007

Well, has another 12 months passed into history so quickly, I can hardly believe that Christmas is nearly upon us. I am pleased to include an article that is a step back into the summer of this year. Just as the last issue was going to press I received a letter from Debbie Winyard, Debbie you may remember is Chairman of the Children’s Friendship League, one of the chosen charities to benefit from this years New Forest Run. I am delighted to include the items that Debbie sent in this issue, I am also pleased to see that our help means that they have been able to provide the children with a Christmas event this year, something that hasn’t happened in recent years. But you will also note that their struggle goes on and that it has increased in needing to find a new home for next years camp, if you have any ideas please contact Debbie and let her know. Click here to see Debbie's letter, a report of their camp in August, and some photos.

It is also the time of year when you should have made your nomination for member of the year. If you have not voted yet it is not too late, fill in a slip and give/send it to Roy by the 12th December. If it is too late for that then give Roy a ring and let him know, it is your vote so please use it.

That only leaves me to wish you all a very happy and peaceful Christmas and to wish that everyone has a prosperous and healthy New Year.

Some more dates for the diary

December 2007: for the whole of this month Mike Rolls MG at Fifehead Magdalen, near Gillingham, Dorset are extending a warm welcome to MG owners old and new. If you are stuck for ideas for presents this Christmas why not pop along to Mike and Carol’s emporium. Not only do they have a wide selection of new and used items for the MG A, B and Midget owner, but they also have a vast selection of MG related gifts. They are also offering mulled wine (just the one Sir, if you're driving!) and mince pies to callers. I have spent many a happy hour rummaging in the secondhand stores and they always have interesting cars to look at (and purchase if you really are going for the ultimate present) but they have always made time for a chat. It could be combined with a Christmas shopping trip to Shaftesbury, but please note if you have attended one of their traditional New Year's Day gatherings they are not holding it this year.

June 13th, 14th & 15th: Next year's (provisional) dates for the annual MGCC Silverstone meeting, everything you could want to see, know or possibly buy relating to all things MG, including racing. So Roy, stick it in your new diary, as you said you’ve always wanted to go!

WEDNESDAY 16th JANUARY
Club AGM, Empress of Blandings, 20.00hrs

This is your chance to have your say and influence the things we may do in 2008. The only events we have set in the diary for 2008 at the moment are the first Wednesday of every month being the club night and the New Forest Run 2008 being on the 1st of June. Do you have something you would like to see us do or run as a club? Well this is the place and the time to let us know, could we do some things differently? Please make time to pop along, it is your club for your enjoyment and we’d love to see you.

Martin
